PLEASE NOTE – Our Cycle Hire Centres @ all 3 sites will continue to be open every day from 9am – 5.30pm throughout the winter.

We will open everyday throughout the holidays except for Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

We will also be open everyday throughout the February half-term.

We are excited to announce that Fineshade Cycling will be opening it’s doors to the public next Bank Holiday Friday – 22nd April. The centre will be run by the familiar faces of Graham Atkins and Gavin Thompson and they are looking forward to welcoming customer both old and new to the new retail and hire centre. We’re very excited at Outdoor Adventure as we’re about to add to our family!!! We’re soon going to be opening the doors of our 4th cycle hire centre @ Fineshade Woods, Northamptonshire. Based in the heart of glorious ancient woodlands the cycle hire centre offers both a 5 mile family route and a tough red route suitable for Mountain Bikers looking for rougher terrain. For those looking for some serious fun for their kids over the long summer holidays Whitwell Activity Centre can offer the solution with their Summer Adventure Club Sessions.

Each session involves a mix of: climbing, abseiling, high ropes, orienteering, nature quest, problem solving and trust challenges. A session runs from 9.30 to 12.30

The club starts from Monday 1st August running on Monday/Wednesday/Friday each week until Friday 2nd September and is open to children age 8 years and over.

All participants must pre book to reserve a place on the summer adventure club. All you have to do is book 3 x 3 hour sessions at £49.50 one of our team will then ask you to fill in our booking form.

On booking Parents/Guardians will receive an Information Pack containing timings, dates what participants should bring along to the club, centre contact details and parental consent forms etc.

Outdoor Adventure reserves the right to cancel or postpone any summer club sessions and will inform all participants of any changes as soon as possible.

Outdoor Adventure @ Rutland Water are currently looking to recruit part time Activity instructors to join our exciting and professional team.

If you enjoy the outdoors are self motivated with good communication skills you may be what we are looking for.

As an activities instructor you will be requested to meet, introduce and deliver a number of activities to our guests. Activities will include Climbing, abseiling, High Ropes, Orienteering, Initiative Exercises and Cycle Hire.

Ideally applicants would need to be age 17 +, have an interest in the outdoors, enjoy working with a range of different people and have a good head for heights. All Training will be provided for successful candidates.

We are happy to announce that we can now offer Figfour Dry-Tooling climbing sessions.

For those that are unfamiliar with dry-tooling please read on. The Figfour dry-tools were originally developed as a training aid for Ice / Mixed Climbing. Mixed climbing is a combination of ice climbing and rock climbing generally using ice climbing equipment such as crampons and ice axes. Dry-tooling is mixed climbing’s most specialized skill and has since evolved into a “sport” onto itself.

By using the Figfours climbers can keep in shape and practice technique away from the mountains on artificial walls without the use of conventional Ice Axes and Crampons by substituting these with the Figfours and stiff boots.

Climbers move up the wall by hooking the Figfour rubber loops over the bolt on holds, climbing routes can vary from easy (large positive holds) to hard (smaller rounded holds).

If you are already a keen snow and ice fan but struggle to keep in shape due to the logistics of getting to the mountains then Figfours at Outdoor Adventure could be the answer to preparing for those winter routes. Outdoor Adventures Climbing Wall is ideally suited to the use of Figfours with its natural features in the way of ledges, overhangs and lots of positive holds. The wall is also situated outdoors creating a more realistic environment especially through the winter months, giving climbers an excuse to dig out their winter gear and stiff boots ready to be prepared for those all important winter adventures.

All Figfour Arrive and Climbers must register at our reception; we will then go through some safety essentials you can then start having fun.

All Figfour Taster Sessions are instructor led.
